Sifu Vernon is the Chief-Instructor of Vernons Wing Chun

and co-director of the Temple Gym Martial Arts Centre.

He is a family member of the British Chin Woo Association.

   Sifu Vernon Started training in the Martial arts at the age of 14 in 1980 at a branch school of Simon Lau’s in Barking, East London Until 1983.

Sifu Vernon then moved to Torquay, Devon in the South - West of England In 1984.

 There was no Wing Chun any where in the South - West at that time, so Sifu Vernon Joined a Lau Gar Kung Fu School in Torquay. Which was Run by Mich Astian and Chief- Instructor Humphry Brooms.Sifu Vernon trained with the group from 19 84 - 1987.

In 1989 Sifu Vernon started looking for Wing Chun again, and joined up with Sifu Leung Ting’s Wing Tsun Organisation. By attending Instructor training programs with Sifu Leung Ting, Sifu Vernon soon Found Himself Running a School in Torquay under Sifu Nick Smart.

In 1992 Sifu Vernon travelled to the Far East to Research Wing Chun Kuen and Visited Masters in Hong Kong, Canton and Foshan. In 1993 Sifu Vernon achieved 2nd Level Technician

( Instructor Level ) with Leung Ting’s Wing Tsun Organisation. 

    Sadly in 1994 the British Wing Tsun Organisation splintered away from Leung Ting’s Wing Tsun Organisation.

Sifu Nick Smart formed the Pro-am Wing Tchun Organisation. Sifu Vernon Stayed with that group until early 1995, and in that time was awarded . 2nd level Technician ( Instructor Level ) In

    1995 Sifu Vernon Formed the Wing Chun Research Association. In the same year Sifu Vernon was tested and approved by the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts. Through the Council Sifu Vernon meet up with Sifu Samuel Kwok and trained along side him. In 1996

Sifu Vernon was made Assistant Secretary to the United Kingdom Chinese Kuoshu Federation and travelled to Taiwan as part of the British Team. He was accompanied by one of his students Nick Page become Silver Medalist in the Super Heavy Weight Division. 

In 1996 Sifu Derek Vernon started traing with Sifu Augustine Fong

( Fong Chi Wing ) at the head quarters of Sifu Fong’s Wing Chun Gung Fu Federation, which is based in Tucson, Arizona.

Sifu Vernon would also like to thank his Si-Mo for making him feel a part of their family. 
 

Sifu Vernon has trained National and World Champions in Full-Contact and Forms Competitions. Sifu Vernon's Two oldest children are Gold and Silver Medalists at National Level.

Wing Chun is a simple yet challenging martial art. Training incorporates elements of solo forms and exercises, moving meditation, partner drills, sparring and conditioning.
